Felt Letters – Raising Homemakers

Uncategorized

Lately I have been making felt letters for a some little friends of mine. I think they will be wonderful learning toys and fun to play with. The pattern  is FREE and you can download it at PurlBee. These letters would make a great sewing project to do with your children and they are super easy to make.

  • assorted colors of felt
  • freezer paper
  • needle
  • sewing thread
  • polyfill stuffing
  • pattern from PurlBee.com

After printing out the pattern, trace over the patterns onto freezer paper, making sure the slick side is facing down.

Then cut loosely around the letters. You can use any type of felt. Slick side down, iron the freezer paper onto felt for just a few seconds – this will make it stick to the felt. Cut out the shapes. Then peel off the freezer paper. Easy peasy.

Follow the sewing instructions from PurlBee. You will be using a simple whip-stitch and stuffing it with the polyfill as you go.

There are so many different ways that you could use these letters – games, school, decorations.

Let yourself and your children be creative. It’ll be good for you!
