Be Encouraged: “Homemaking, Hospitality & Tea” (+ Give-away!)

The mission of homemaking is like a beautiful handmade afghan, in which every stitch is an important part of the whole, and where every row comes together to make the lovely finished product.

Every aspect of the homemaker’s life and work within her home is so very important, and comes together to produce a lovely picture of Biblical womanhood—a picture which is a great source of wonder and ministry to the watching world.

One of my favorite aspects of homemaking and one that has perhaps caught my interest the most the past couple years as I’ve studied godly women of history is the aspect of hospitality, and how these godly examples of womanhood viewed their homes as mission fields and shelters for the lost and needy of the world.

Studies of godly women in history yield us a vast and lovely portrait of what it means to show hospitality in our homes. We see how both young girls and married women alike were able to show the love of Christ in their homes in such a way that all who entered those Christian homes became introduced to the goodness of the Lord simply through being fed a warm meal or offered warm, caring words.

Whether it was the Proverbs 31 woman stretching out her hands to the poor and reaching out her hands to the needy or Dorcas faithfully showing charity to others, or women of more modern times such as Sarah Edwards, Abigail Adams, and Dolley Madison joyfully opening their homes to prince and pauper alike, women throughout history have had amazing life-changing ministries by simply opening their homes to others, welcoming them with warm hearts into the warm atmospheres they called home.

Sadly, many women today fail to realize the amazing impact they could have on others if they would just open their homes with the desire to be an encouragement. In recent decades, increasingly more homes are left empty during the day as family members go in all different directions. This change can sometimes result in brokenhearted people around us being left without an encouraging word, comforting hug, or caring home to come to.

Tea Cozies

When my father began impressing upon me his desire that I begin some sort of home business a couple years ago and my mother came up with the wonderful idea of selling handcrafted tea cozies, something that really excited me about this new endeavor was the opportunity to create and sell something that could be a tool for others as they seek to pursue and recover the lost art of hospitality in their homes.

Down through the past few centuries, having friends and family over for tea has not only been a wonderful way to enjoy making sweet memories with loved ones, but it has also been a way to serve others and to seek to minister to them. And it is my prayer that as you dear, dear women serve as such a wonderful encouragement to us young ladies in what it means to be women of Christian hospitality and love, these tea cozies of mine might serve as a helpful and lovely addition to your home as you reach out to others with the grace of Christ. Not only that, but I also pray that these cozies would also be able to be used by mothers and daughters who desire to spend special time together, bonding and growing in the Lord as Mother’s Day approaches.

The prayer of my heart is that these teapot cozies would serve as a great blessing to you as you strive to use your homes as the mission fields the Lord created them to be! Always remember what an inspiration and blessing you wonderful women are to those you show hospitality to, and never give up in this wonderful calling!

May the Lord greatly bless!
