This seems to happen each year around this time. I cannot wait to walk through orange and yellow leaves surrounded with hues of green and crisp edges. I scurry around the house with excitement as I decorate with Fall décor. Most of it was purchased at the end of the season last year. I am not even a latte drinker, but I quickly hit the like button on social media when my friends post a photo of their first Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Autumn days can be filled with gray skies, shorter days and chilly nights. Life has a tendency to slow down during this time. More time is spent indoors. As a homemaker, this is why I put much emphasis on decorating during this time of year. If I am going to spend countless hours inside my home, I might as well make it a pleasant sight.
I know that homemaking is not about feelings. However, I feel as though I am a better and happier homemaker when my home is decorated. It is my home. It is a reflection of me. It is a safe haven for my family. There is a tendency for me to have a little more pep in my step while the aroma of Pumpkin bread spreads throughout this place.
As we begin a season, take a moment and think about your home. Then ask yourself this question, “What can I do this season to make my home a better place?” It doesn’t have to be something grand. It can be as simple as a scented candle or a wreath on the door. Find something that will make your days of homemaking happy days during this Fall. It’s a season, it’s a new day.
