Are you passionate about imparting homemaking skills to young ladies?
Do you feel called to bless a young girl in a third world country?
Wonderful news: you can combine the two!
This week, Operation Christmas Child is collecting shoebox gifts, which will act as messengers of the love of Christ to children in over 100 countries, as well as provide an opportunity for these children, among the poorest in the world, to hear the gospel! Praying over and packing a shoebox is one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season…and this year, my daughters and I are committed to blessing an older girl, in the 10 – 14 age group, with the ability to crochet!
Crocheting is a practical skill that will aid the girl who receives this box in her daily life, as well as give her a creative outlet as she grows from a girl into a young lady. Understanding that she will not speak English, I created a free downloadable crochet guide, comprised almost entirely of pictures! This guide can be used in any country the shoebox gift goes to!
{Please note that I created the guide out of the desire to help little ones, not from my skills as a designer. Ahem.}
Operation Christmas child is a fantastic ministry, dedicated to reaching out to children who may never receive another gift in their lives; and bringing news of the greatest Gift to their souls. Just imagine: every shoebox gift OCC collects represents the soul of a child! I wish you many happy memories as you and your daughters serve the sweet children who will receive your gifts!
