Have you been wanting to learn how to host an easy Friendship tea?
When my girls were growing up we did tea for all kinds of things–birthday party teas, doll party teas, and sometimes we just did it because we wanted to make some scones or cookies and talk.
Even as I plan the school year I am gearing up to plan in Poetry Tea Time for our homeschool to do regularly with the children and I can’t wait–there are so many ideas I have that I want to implement into that special time!
Now today we are going to share some easy tips to help you make the experience of blessing others with a tea fun with a Friendship tea. Remember, the whole idea is just to have fun with it!
1. Make a list of friends you would like to invite to your tea and pick a date and invite them (you could make invitations, buy them, or just contact them online). You can include “Please bring a plate of your favorite dessert” and send it out at least 2 weeks in advance and don’t forget to add a respond-by date.
2. Shop for two or three different variety of teas. You can pick black, fruit or decaf  either using tea bags or loose tea. For those who don’t like tea you might want to pick up some cocoa packets. Make sure to also pick up some raw honey or sugar as a sweetener.
3. Plan ahead picking out your tablecloths, tea plates, teapots, cups, saucers and centerpieces. You could pick a fun theme–or go whimsical or formal. Whatever you like. Don’t forget to add some flowers, fresh cut are a nice touch but if they are not hand, silk will do as well.
4. You might want to plan something special ahead of time to talk about or fun games to play to make the tea interesting and more memorable, maybe even tying it in with your theme.
5. A few hours before everyone arrives prepare your trays of food. Tea sandwiches cut into triangles are popular and so is fruit. Refrigerate what you need to until the guests arrive. Remember that your friends will bring dessert too!
6. Right before guests arrive arrange everything on a buffet table or the table you will have your tea at if there isn’t a buffet table. You can also serve water or iced tea in pitchers and pour the hot water into teapots. Arrange tea bags on pretty dishes if you’d like. And set out small plates for food.
7. Let your friends serve themselves and remember to have fun!
