Have you resolved this year to spend more purposeful time with your daughter? I have three (two older and one teen) and I want to make sure I am still pouring into their lives. Time goes so fast and before you know it they are adults!
When the girls were younger I would take them out a lot and spend one on one time with them. Sometimes I would even go through a book with them which was fun too, this was good to do when they were older.
A few places we would go to would be:
Or out to eat at a place that they’d like to visit!
Remember that our daughters need us. They need our time and our love. They need to know that we care enough to spend time with them. They need to know that we are available and here for them.
If you need some helpful ideas of what to do when you are out on a date with her, here are a few tips:
Encourage her with your example – she needs you as a godly example so remember to be encouraging, kind, and supportive. Your attitude is so important.
Encourage her with your words – Be helpful and guide her to be wise. Find out how she is doing mentally, physically, spiritually, etc.
Encourage her with God’s Word – lovingly share the word of God with her and His promises. Remember that the Word of God does not return void.
Pray for her – Take the time to pray for her openly and/or privately. How I wish I had a mother that prayed for me–what a comfort a praying mom is!
