Sprouts think sprouting is fun!
Did you know that by sprouting beans, seeds, and nuts we awaken enzymes that benefit our bodies in many ways?
Just think of all of the life that is buzzing around in one little sprouting bean!
This is a fun and healthy habit for our daughters to learn.
FIRST: Gather your ingredients. A clean wide-mouthed mason jar and lid, a clean square of screen, distilled water, and the beans, seeds, or nuts that you would like to sprout. (We chose a soup-mix for this particular sprouting.)
SECOND: Fill the mason jar 1/3 full with beans, seeds, or nuts.
THIRD: Fill the jar with distilled water.
FOURTH: Cover the jar with screen.
FIFTH: Replace the screw cap around the screen.
SIXTH: Let sit on the counter for one night.
In the morning, rinse the seeds several times.
SEVENTH: Lay the drained jar on an angle.
Rinse three times a day for three days. (Yes, sprouting is like owning a small, quiet pet.)
You’ll begin to see sprouts within three to four days.
EIGHTH: After three or four days, rinse once more, and drain well.
Replace screen with solid lid and refrigerate.
Enjoy your sprouts by the handful, on a salad, or in a sandwich!
