Wait, Wait, Wait! – Christian Homemaking

Uncategorized

As a mommy of four blessings, I have used the word “wait” more times than I can count. When my children were small, I was always telling them to wait. They had to wait their turn for toys, wait their turn to ask mommy or daddy a question, wait for dinner to be ready, wait their turn to talk, wait for time out with mommy, wait…wait…wait… I would tell them that they will always have to wait for something. As teens and young adults they still have to wait. They wait in line or a waiting room, wait for pay day, wait for phone calls, wait for answers to prayer. When they were children, they didn’t always wait patiently and tantrums ensued. Sometimes as adults, we behave the same way.

I wonder how our Heavenly Father reacts when we don’t wait patiently for Him to work things out for us or to answer prayers. I have been praying for a long time about several matters, and this week I found myself getting frustrated that these issues aren’t resolved yet. Perhaps God is still putting the puzzle pieces together. Maybe the answer I am looking for is not what God has in mind. I don’t know exactly how or when these matters will be resolved. I believe the Lord wanted to encourage me this week and He gave me a little glimmer of hope, a little tidbit of what is to come if I can just hold out a little longer. I am so glad God reminded me that He is still on the scene.

I will just have to continue to wait, hopefully more patiently than I have been lately, for God to work in these situations. While I wait, I will turn to His Word, seek His face, and continue to make my requests known. I will praise Him no matter the timing or the outcome.

Wait for the Lord; Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 24:19

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
