Mini Candy Stocking

Uncategorized

Make these easy Mini Candy Stockings to give as simple gifts this Christmas.

Step 1:  Cut the pattern.  Pin onto 2 layers of desired fabric (wrong sides together).  Pin slightly askew so the fabric won’t fray.  Cut the fabric.

Step 2:  Cut the edges off of  a closed bag around all three sides with craft scissors.  Optional:  Cut top edge slightly.

Step 3:  Prepare plastic. 1)Slide the over layer to the left.  It will slide along the “zipper.”2) The over layer is on the left and under layer is on the right. 3) Rotate the under layer  4)  until it is above the over layer as shown.

Step 4:  Place the over layer (which is now at the bottom) over the under layer.  Center the teeth and zip closed. Once the plastic is in one piece, flip entire piece of plastic over.

Step 5:  Place the double layer of stocking fabric along the zipper as shown.  One gallon sized bag will fit two stockings.  Pin close to the edges using only a few pins so as to not puncture too much of the plastic.

Step 6:  Add a 5″ piece of looped ribbon to the top corner between the layers.  Pin in place.

Step 7:  Set the stitch length slightly longer than normal.  Stitch around the edge of the stocking using a 1/4″ allowance.  Begin and end at the ribbon.  (Sewing on the fabric side will make the plastic slide easily in the sewing machine.)

Step 8:  Cut the plastic along the fabric edge.

Step 9:  Open zipper.  Fill with desired candies.  Press zipper closed.

Note:  I used a generic freezer bag because Ziploc brand had a large white block printed on the bag.  I also used candy pieces from Trader Joes.  The fabrics used were Milk, Sugar & Flower Pink and Pam Kitty Garden Aqua Apples from Fat Quarter Shop.
