The Key to All Our Relationships

If you are seeking to be a good wife and mother, there is something you must first have.  This is the key to all our relationships.  We cannot succeed without it!

What is it, you ask?  Why, it is our relationship with Christ.  If we belong to the Lord and spend time daily with Him, in His Word and in private prayer, He will continue to grow us and change us into His image.  We will become more like Him.  This sweet relationship and love for Christ will permeate all our relationships.

Does this mean we will be perfect?  Will we never become frustrated with our children, or miffed at our husbands?  No, unfortunately.  But these errors in our ways should become less and less–we should not be characterized by them.  And when we do fail to show love, kindness, and patience, we should be quick to come to repentance.

As Jesus taught us:

“…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Matthew 22:37-39

If we have Christ as our Saviour, we have the most important thing in life.  We must love Him with our whole hearts, and above all others.  So please, before you pick up a parenting book, or a book on how to improve your marriage, or search the internet for help with these topics, make sure your life is given over to Christ, and that you are putting Him first in your life.  Our relationship with Christ is the foundation to have what we need to do well unto others.
