Teaching Daughters about True Beauty

by June Fuentes on April 5, 2012 in True Beauty

Are you teaching your daughters what true beauty is?

The world will come at them with all sorts of ideas–we must give them a strong foundation from which they get their definition from.

Stacy McDonald from Your Sacred Calling wrote a post entitled:

Are Beauty Pageants Beautiful?

We would love to hear your thoughts!

(Note: While I don’t agree with the mom in the video, I definitely have compassion for her as we are all sinners and only saved by grace. We definitely should pray for her and seek to¬† diligent teaching our daughters so they will not make the same mistakes that we have made.)

So sad. May we be dressed and teach our dau. the true beauty which is an honest, Godly heart, faithful and true, Grateful and purity, all coming from the innermost parts or rather from God. Without God true beauty is lost.
May God have mercy.

“Beauty is more than skin-deep.”
“… charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

When I was in high school, there was a boy in my church who was cute.. on the outside. But you could not have paid me enough to go out with him on a date. He was arrogant, ignorant, rude, mouthy, etc. I simply didn’t like him. By contrast, there was a boy a grade or two ahead of me who I thought was just gorgeous… but then I realized he wasn’t. His “beauty” was more about who he was- he was sweet, respectful, kind, intelligent, and just plain good.

The reality is that looks aren’t everything. Personality and character can make up for a lot in the looks department…. And this principal applies to both men AND women.
