Homemaking 101: Vision, Encouragement and Instruction for Young Christian Wives

by Jennifer on November 22, 2012 in Cleaning, Dinner Table, Food, Home Culture, Homemaking, Industry, Ministry, Purpose

A homemaker.  It’s all I ever wanted to be.  It seemed to be biblical womanhood externalized.  And in many aspects it is.

Homemaking.  It’s nothing I learned in school.  Although I had a “Foods” class, I learned only how to scramble eggs and make chocolate chip cookies, (things I’d already learned and practiced often at home.)  My mom was the quintessential housewife.  Every meal was always cooked to perfection (with ease!) and our home always welcoming and tidy.  Most everything I learned, I learned from Mom.

She taught me not only the mechanics of homemaking, but the heart behind it as well.  Nothing was ever done grudgingly, causing me to believe that homemaking was menial or mundane.  She loaded the dishwasher while she sang, and she mopped the floor while she praised the LORD, (with “Daddy sang bass, Mama sang tenor. Me and little brother would join right in there” playing on the record player… and loud!)

She gave me a heart for homemaking and for that I am forever thankful.

A year ago our family produced our first film, Homemaking 101.  Several months ago I sent June a copy, here’s what she had to say:

“Friends, Homemaking 101 is a quality product and wonderful glimpse inside of a Christian home that is well-managed and organized. Jennifer Ross has done a wonderful job breaking down homemaking into bite-sized encouragement for the rest of us. I definitely recommend this helpful and inspiring resource to new moms, moms who are looking for encouragement and for daughters in training!

… She included everything on how to cook, clean, organize, manage, decorate your walls, budget, pay bills and much more. …she gives us an inside look into the workings of her home. Also featured is  an older “Titus 2″ lady who shares her heart, thoughts and wisdom throughout the entire movie. I am looking forward to to seeing the next parts in the series!”

Good news June!  Homemaking 201 is in production and we pray will be complete early 2013!

And! I want to offer our Homemaking 101 DVD to you at 25% off of our regular price if $15.95.  Just go to our website, Family Vision Films  and enter discount code:  homemaker25   (Discount is good through November 26th).

I can’t wait for the second one to come out to have more info to use and more ideas of good ways to serve my husband and kids and keep the house better. The first one has been such a source of knowledge.

Mom November 25, 2012

It was a labor of love… 🙂 And still is…

Mom November 23, 2012

And now she’s an old woman, who burns the biskits, but her heart is still young. She never thought that her daughter was watching, learning, listening, but she Knew without a doubt, her heavenly Father and Lord was hearing her… and now thirty years later, she, with tears of rejoicing, thanks and praises the Lord for answering her deepest, most secret prayers for her only child…
“… But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly…”
May you also know the purest joy of seeing your children love and serve the Lord…

Jennifer~Renewing Housewives November 24, 2012

Thank you for the years of prayers. And thank you for letting the readers here know that children do watch. They do listen, and often “more is caught than taught.” And thank you for the example you gave me growing up.

Mom November 23, 2012

For your readers who may have never heard, “Daddy Sang Base.. ”

Jamie November 23, 2012

I am asking my husband for the video, Homemaking 101. But I have a question, do you go over how to be a stay-at-home wife and a mother to two great boys, one of which is autistic and ADHD. I am having trouble trying to divide my time with everything and him. He is 4 years old and he is a lot of work.
Thanks for your time

Jennifer~Renewing Housewives November 24, 2012

Hi Jamie,
The DVD teaches the basics of homemaking. I don’t specifically address autism or ADHD, but do cover time management and how to “do it all.” It’s a little bit of everything, with quite a bit of encouragment! Msg me thru my fb page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Renewing-Housewives/254656157917765?ref=hl#!/pages/Renewing-Housewives/254656157917765 I’ll give you a code to get the DVD for just the cost of shipping. 😀

Jenny November 24, 2012

This is an amazing DVD!

I wasn’t raised a Christian and am the only one in my family who believes in God and also wasn’t taught homemaking skills at all growing up. They just weren’t valued! It is lovely to have the DVD and to see your lovely family interacting. Such helpful tips too!

So glad that there will be a second in the series!

JenniferR November 25, 2012

It’s a blessing to have been able to produce this DVD! And we are sooo excited about getting this next one out too!!

Dawn November 24, 2012

When is the coupon code going to expire? I don’t have a whole lot of extra money, but love finding anything that will help me learn to be a better homemaker. I have ADD, and my mom wasn’t a homemaker, and so I’m kinda working from behind…

JenniferR November 25, 2012

Two more days Dawn 🙂 It expires on the 26th.
