Why It’s So Important!

Take a moment and look at your children, what do you see? Do you see the sons who will one day be godly husbands and fathers? Do you see daughters who will one day be godly wives and mothers? Have you thought about what your children’s families will look like?

Let’s focus on your daughters now. Do you realize that your daughters will be raising your grandchildren and they will in turn be raising your great-grandchildren? What kind of training will these young ladies need for them to grow into the sturdy women that will influence the future generations for God’s glory?

Do you ever look around at our culture? I’m sure that you have, you really can’t avoid it. Our culture wants to break down families by taking the women out of the home, taking the children out of the home as early as possible, and making the men weak and passive. It wants to destroy the family. And not just any family, your family. So instead of letting culture dictate our lives and the lives of our children, let us stand up and be sturdy women, who will teach and train our daughters in ways that will bring future blessings into their lives and future generations!

These pictures are of my honeysuckle that is growing on the side of our garage. It is big, beautiful, and smells heavenly. This honeysuckle is very special to me, it came as a small little start from my grandmother’s plant. My sister, who now lives in our grandmother’s old home, gave me the start a few years ago. I wanted it because I have so many memories of it and my grandmother. She lived next door to us. And while she was a quiet woman she taught me many things. Little things. And like this honeysuckle plant that came to me as a very small plant, those little things that she taught me have grown and blossomed.

Through this new Raising Homemakers website we are hoping, through encouragement and practical advice, that we can grow and blossom into those sturdy women. Women who will not forsake the teaching and training of the next generations.

(If you have sons, you may consider visiting Vision Forum and Western Conservatory for a vast amount of resources in training young men to be those godly husbands and fathers of the next generations. My personal favorite for the men in your life is the “Father to Son” DVD set by Geoff Botkin.)

I am very excited about this website! My mom did such a great job at teaching my sisters and I to be great homemakers, by her example, and having us ‘practice’ as we were growing up. I have 3 girls, and I want to raise them up to be godly women, who will be a blessing to their families.
