“Remind me of this with every decision
Generations will reap what I sow
I can pass on a curse or a blessing
To those I will never know”

-Sara Groves

Do you ever think about the the impact you have on future generations?

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about how the decisions I’m making today with my children will affect my children’s children, their children, and so on. Those thoughts are sobering and humbling.

With these thoughts in mind I turned to my friend Mrs. Robin Brookshire, a wise Titus 2 woman, for her thoughts on raising generations…

Again, thinking about the importance of raising generations, I asked the very talented Erin of The Vintage Pearl if she would create a necklace for me (and for all of you) that would be a reminder of our great calling.  She agreed.  We came up with this beautiful ‘Raising Generations’ necklace:

God is so amazing and wonderful! Just yesterday I was watching The Return of the Daughters by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin. I was watching the part on how big of an influence you can be on your brothers and I thought WOW my relationship with them could change them for the better or the worse. It could also effect their opionons on raising their children some day. I have a big affect on my little brothers, I need to do the best job I can do! They are the future father’s of the next generation.

The necklace is beautiful and makes me think of my friend Tami, who happens to love the necklace too. I would love her to have it for her birthday as she is a wonderful Godly mother of 8. She is a woman to learn from and whom you see Jesus clearly through her.

Since becoming a mom 7 months ago, I think often about how I want to raise my child and how what I do will affect how she raises her children. It makes me want to get everything as right as I can!

Miss Mell July 26, 2010

I would love to win this necklace so that I could give it to my dear friend for her graduation. It would be about the best gift that I could give her as it would be a constant reminder that her every action will effect generations and also be a reminder that she needs to start thinking about a vision of multigenerational faithfulness right now!

Thanks for this post!

Leanna July 26, 2010

Amanda July 26, 2010

It is so incredible to know that God has given me the power to impact the future by the choices I make in raising my children. My husband and I are first generation Christian, laying a foundation of Christ in our home, to pass down to our future generations. What a beautiful reminder to wear around your neck, that we are raising them for the glory of God!
